The implosion in difference that animated the queer imaginary and proposal, within the liberationist current of the gay movement and of critical theory, in the course of several decades produced a discursive field and reflexive posture with respect to the ambiguous construction of sex; non-linearity and non-coherence between sex, gender and desire, interwoven perfomativity, and these within an infinite combination of possibilities as the transgender phenomenon. Beyond the diverse paradigmatic positions that have underpinned queer theory, all types of cultural and representative polemics emerged as part of this process.
In light of this, what are the possible accounts that can be produced at the present time? What are the challenges, ethical-political dilemmas and implications of the matters presented in this debate for the different liberationist currents and critical theory? What power effects have been produced by the institutionalization of these debates? What transgressive standing do these have? Finally, how is this discussion situated in relation to the dramatic discourse of political and moral fundamentalisms of our times?
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Thursday, February 28, 2007
ESSAYS: Submissions in Spanish or English.
FORMAT: Submissions should be in Word format (Word98 and later versions), double space, font size 12, a minimum of 15 and maximum of 20 pages of the main body of the text. References and notes are to be located at the end of the text.
