Call for Papers
The conference will be dedicated to the presentation of papers on the theme of happiness, well-being, and the meaning of life from different perspectives, for instance philosophy, economics, ethics, religious studies, and psychology.
Possible topics include:
- hedonism and happiness
- preference satisfaction and well-being
- mortality and the meaning of life
- emotions
(If unsure about the suitability of your research topic, please email the organisers).
If you wish to contribute, send a 1000-word extended abstract outlining the main argument of the paper to Lisa Bortolotti (l.bortolotti@bham.ac.uk) or Yujin Nagasawa (y.nagasawa@bham.ac.uk) as an email attachment in MS Word or text format. Include your contact details (name, email address and affiliation) in the text of your email but not in your attachment to allow for blind review.
The deadline for submitting papers is 1st February 2007. Abstracts will be read and selected by a panel and contributors will be notified by 2nd April 2007. Selected papers will be considered for publication in the European Journal of Philosophy.
Benefits for contributors: there will be no conference registration fee for contributors and buffet lunch and refreshment will be provided on the day. Unfortunately, we can offer neither reimbursement of travel expenses to Birmingham nor accommodation. For other delegates, there will be a registration fee of £10 (waged) or £8 (unwaged).
