Philosophia Africana is an international philosophy journal founded in 2001. It is published at Depaul University under the editorship of the Nigerian-American philosopher Emmanuel Chukwudi Eze. Philosophia Africana publishes peer-reviewed academic philosophical or philosophically interdisciplinary works that explore pluralistic experiences of Africa and the Black Diaspora from both universal and comparative points of view.
Guest Editors Ronald Sundstrom (USF) and Kathryn T. Gines (Vanderbilt) would like to invite submissions for a special issue on the scholarship of Anna Julia Cooper. Although this is a philosophy journal and we want to emphasize Cooper’s philosophical voice, we also welcome submissions from other disciplines that will underscore the wide range of her intellectual voice. Submissions are expected to engage Cooper’s A Voice from the South, often overlooked dissertation Slavery and the French Revolutionists (1788-1805), and/ or her essays and speeches.
Send your submissions as an attachment in MS Word or PDF form to both of the editors:
Ronald Sundstrom, rrsundstrom@usfca.edu
Kathryn T. Gines, k.gines@Vanderbilt.Edu
Please contact either of the editors for more information.
Sumissions must include the following:
- Cover Page with title, author, institutional affiliation, and word count.
- 1 page c.v. and a short biographical sketch of the author.
- 200 word abstract
- All references and notes must be endnotes (at the end of the paper).
- Please see “Notes to Contributors” at the Philosophia
Deadline for Submissions: March 1, 2007
