We are delighted to confirm that two of the leading philosophers of technology will be attending the first QPT Conference. The conference will take place over two days. The first day will focus on seminars by the keynote speakers. The second day will be devoted to accepted conference papers.
The conference organising committee invites all papers that address the growing field of the philosophy of technology and its influence on our understanding of our world and ourselves. Papers will be peer reviewed by the organizing committee.
The conference themes are inclusive of:
o Technology and rationality: technical and social factors.
o Technological democracy.
o Analytic and continental philosophy of technology.
o Technology and the changing nature of time and space.
o The metaphysics, epistemology, and ontology of technology.
o Philosophy of emerging technologies.
o Technology and power.
o Technology and alienation.
o Technology and ethics.
o Technology and education.
Submissions
Submissions should be 2500 - 3000 words with an abstract of 200 - 400 words. Papers should be sent electronically to Aengus Daly and Roisin Lally at techne07@hotmail.com as an attachment in one of the following formats: Word (doc.), Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Portable Document Format (pdf.).
The deadline for submissions is 1st February 2007. Notifications will be made by the 15th March 2007. Papers will be due to commentators 1st May 2007.
