“What Kinds of Kinds Are We? Some Thoughts on the Ontology of Social Categories”
The Philosophy Graduate Student Association of the University of Kentucky invites paper submissions from current graduate students that philosophically address the topic of personal identity and the self. Papers focusing on any historical period and written in either the continental or analytic tradition are invited. Submission topics may include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
Historical discussions, Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science, Embodiment and Personal Identity/Self, Persistence of Identity and Memory, Personal Identity and Modality, Social Constructions of the Self, including feminist philosophy, philosophy of race, and discussions concerning sexual identity and orientation.
Paper Submissions must be received no later than February 9, 2007. Submissions received later than this date will be accepted at the discretion of the conference coordinator.
All submissions must:
1) be submitted for blind review (include cover letter with contact information),
2) include a 150 word abstract, and
3) be edited for a 30 minute presentation (approx. 3000 words).
