Warwick Graduate Conference in Philosophy & Literature
Begins: Sat, 17 Mar 2007
Ends: Sat, 17 Mar 2007
Location:
Last date for paper submission: Fri, 08 Dec 2006
Organizer: Joseph Kuzma
Plenary Speaker:
Joshua Landy (Stanford) “Beckett, Rorty, and the End of Philosophy”
This event will offer interested graduate students a forum in which to
explore the diverse range of conceptual and thematic inter-relations which
might be fostered between contemporary philosophical discourse and literary
studies. By emphasizing the development and application of innovative and
dynamic strategies for engaging with both literary and philosophical texts,
this conference hopes to promote a vigorous renegotiation of the boundaries
between philosophy and literature while encouraging a renewed attentiveness
to the stylistic, thematic, and conceptual resonances which bring
philosophers, authors, critics, and readers into dialogue with one another.
For this event, we are seeking papers that integrate both philosophical and
literary concerns. Presentations should be no longer than 25-minutes in
length, and we ask that interested students submit an abstract of no more
than 750 words by Friday, December 8, 2006.
Mixed-media presentations are welcome as long as the student provides
her/his own equipment.
Please Note:The department cannot, unfortunately, cover the
travelling/accommodation expenses of students attending the conference. Any
person considering submitting a paper should bear in mind that they
themselves or (preferably, of course) their department will have to cover
travel expenses to the UK.
