Postgrad Interdisciplinary Conference at Exeter

Theme: Forging Ahead: Agenda for Change

Begins: Thu, 25 May 2006

Ends: Fri, 26 May 2006

Location: University of Exeter

XFi Centre, Streatham Campus

Link: www.huss.ex.ac.uk/postgrad/pgconf2006

This conference is the penultimate annual gathering of the School of the
Humanities and Social Sciences (HuSS), which includes the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS). HuSS includes over 450 research and taught postgraduate students, as well as over 80 faculty and research assistant posts. The conference will feature 3 keynote speakers, 13 themed paper sessions given by postgraduate students, poster presentations by masters students, graduate training workshops and a research methods discussion session. In inviting a wide array of representatives from local organizations, businesses, and associations to join us, the conference will challenge stereotypes of the academic ‘ivory tower’, encouraging students and practitioners to dialogue over new advances in their fields and creating new links between the university and the local community.

In particular, our keynote speaker (co-sponsored by Café Scientifique), Professor Hroar Klempe, Dean of Psychology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, will examine the applications of music for conflict resolution: www.huss.ex.ac.uk/postgrad/pgconf2006/klempe_abstract.htm

We hope that you will join us at the conference, and please forward this information to any interested individuals. We would be grateful if you could register online before May 22nd so that we might provide you with a name badge and delegate pack:
