As a part of the proposal for a book tentatively titled “Philosophy, and House, MD”, the editors invite submissions of essays in the following Call for Papers:
Abstracts of new essays are invited which explore any relation between Fox’s Television program House, MD and Philosophy. Essays may be didactic, argumentative, or expository in nature, and papers from all traditions (analytic, continental, etc) are welcome.
Possible topics include (but are not limited to):
- Topics in Ethical Theory (deontology, consequentialism, value theory}
- Feminist topics, such as the power relationships between Cuddy, House, and Cameron
- Specific traditions (Aristotelian, Existentialist, Marxist, Kantian, Machiavellian, Nietschian, Freudian, etc)
- House’s Persuasive use of irony and sarcasm
- The effect of medical drama on public perception of medicine
- Other topics in Metaphysics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, Religion
Abstracts should be approx 750 words. Full, completed papers are welcome, but should also be accompanied by an abstract. Electronic submissions of abstracts are due by October 1st.
