Site Changes
Published by Christina Huggins September 25th, 2006 in Admin, AnnouncementsAs one of the essential plugins I use in this site has been updated, I’ve incorporated some new features into this website. What this means for the readers out there:
- All of the events posted to this website — which includes both CFP deadlines and conferences — will be posted on the front page of the blog, and additionally will still be accessible via the blog calendar (visible on the right-hand side of the website’s front page). What this means is that, as we add new entries, they will appear on the front page of the website (and will also be updated in the main rss feed).
- So, instead of posting all of this months conferences as a blog post, you can find all of, e.g., September’s conferences by clicking on the month heading in the calendar. And if you have iCal compliant calendar software (e.g., Sunbird, google calendar), then you can still subscribe to our calendar (read more about this option here).
- These changes will also make the site more searchable. (Prior to this update, you couldn’t search within future events).
- If you subscribe to blog updates (via email or rss feed), then you will get many more updates with these changes (probably a few a day). This may be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how much you like hearing from us.
If you are getting more than you can handle, and have trouble unsubcribing, just shoot me an email.
I’m hoping this update will be an improvement to the website, and that it will make information posted here more accessible. If you have any suggestions, complaints, compliments, etc., you are welcome to comment on this post.
